How bad do you want it?

"if you want something badly enough, it is your God-given right to have it"                  - ( Krakauer 154)

Topic: If you really want something you will get it

In the book into the wild by John Krakauer, he says, "if you want something badly enough, it is your god given right to have it". The way i look at this line is that if you really want something then you will find a way to get that want. In life there are many things we need and a lot of things that we want. Humans always want more and more and anything that us humans think will make our lives better we want. Some things we want so bad that we will do anything for, when Krakauer says its your God-given right to have that thing, he is saying that you deserve what you want. If you want something that bad then he believes that you should get that.

What is your Happiness?

"I have always been unsatisfied with life as most people live it. Always i want to live more intensely and richly..." (Krakauer 91)

Topic: Living life the way you desire

In the novel Into The Wild, many lessons are taught about life and the pursuit of happiness. Chris explains that he wants to live a life of more adventure and wealth, but is this really what he wants? Most people are not living there life to the fullest and the reason why is because they are afraid to fail, afraid they will be judged. In reality there is nothing holding them back from doing whatever they want to in this life. Chris is upset with the way that many people are living there life because he believes they are not taking full advantage of there time on earth. This is part of  the reason that Chris does travel so far away the time he does, he is seeking new opportunity and adventure. He is striving to find self peace with himself. More people need to take advantage of the opportunities that are given to us in this life. None of us know when our last day can be so they have to live it to the fullest each and every day.

Is time of the essence?

“I don’t want to know what time it is. I don’t want to know what day it is or where I am. None of that matters.” (Krakauer 18)

Topic: Loosing track of time

Is time Important when you don't need it? This is hard to imagine as a Human living in such a structured society where there is a time and place for everything. My day and everyone else's days are controlled by time and being gone in the wild, time is no longer of any importance. When Chris looses track of time this shows that he is completely isolating himself from all of society. The minute that he realizes that time is no longer important to him is the minute that he is no longer caring about the real world. Chris's adventure into the wild will be very difficult without him knowing where he is and the time. Time will be a big sign in the book, time represents civilization and society and without time he is completely secluded from that.
